Founded 1860
Cricket at Egloshayle since 1860
One of Cornwall's long-established clubs, at home by the River Camel. Here's what we know, and what we're still finding out.
Our story
A long innings
Wadebridge Cricket Club was founded in 1860. More than a century and a half later we still play at Egloshayle Park, with three Saturday sides in the Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League, a Women and Girls section, and juniors from All Stars upwards.
The full history is being pieced together from old scorebooks, team photos and newspaper cuttings. If you have any of those in a loft or a shoebox, we would love to see them. Get in touch and we will add your bit of the story here.
Champions 2023
The title, at last
On Saturday 9 September 2023, the last day of the season, the 1st XI beat Callington by 11 runs at home to win the ECB Cornwall Premier League. The title was decided in the final over. It was the club's first county title in 55 years.
Kevin Renecke made 101, Kelvin Snell 58, and Matt Robins took 3 for 26. James Turpin captained the side. The same afternoon the 2nd XI won Division Two East and went up to County Division 1 for the first time.

The ground
Egloshayle Park
Our home is Egloshayle Park, also known as Egloshayle Playing Fields, on Egloshayle Road, Wadebridge. The River Camel runs past, the white pavilion with its red window frames looks over the square, and on a summer evening the light does the rest.
